Joseph Tumulty was Wilson's closest advisor for over 11 years. In this book you get an inside look at what made WIlson tick,what went into his decisions and basically what made him what he was. Tumulty has a very expansive look into him by using text of many letters,speeches and other venues of commucnication that was available in the early 20th century. If you want an inside look at a presidency this is a very good book. It is only about his political career and very little about his personal life. Mr. Tumulty used many letters and speeches in the text of the book. He may have been better off summarizing these letters and speeches and leaving the full text of them in the appendix. This made for very exhausitived reading at times and bogged down the basis of the book. But still a good book if you an inside look at the Wilson Presidency.Product details

This was a book written by an author that, as it seemed to me, devoted more time than was necessary in explaining or describing his own relationship , his own history of how he got started on the path to working for President Wilson. I did complete the reading but will need to look for another book on Wilson that relates the story of his life.
